IUPAP Early Career Scientist Prize

The Early Career Scientist Prizes (ECSP) in Semiconductor Physics are awarded biennially by the IUPAP C8 Commission on Semiconductors to recognize outstanding contributions to semiconductor physics and its applications by early career scientists.
The ECSP award ceremony and invited award lectures will take place at ICPS 2026, where the prize winners will receive an IUPAP medal and deliver a prestigious invited oral presentation.

Eligibility
  • Nominees must have no more than 8 years of research experience following the award of their PhD (career interruptions excluded).
  • Self-nominations are not accepted.
  • Nomination must be made by a senior member of the research community.
Award Details
  • Two prizes will be awarded.
  • Each prize includes:
    • A commemorative IUPAP medal
    • €1,000
    • A prestigious invited oral presentation at ICPS 2026

The IUPAP C8 Commission strongly encourages nominations of female scientists, as female representation has been historically low.

Nomination Procedure

A complete nomination must be prepared in English and combined into one single PDF file, including:

  • Cover letter (≤ 1000 words) evaluating the nominee’s contributions
    (identifying up to 4 key publications)
  • Citation text (≤ 25 words)
  • Short CV of the nominee (≤ 3 pages)
  • List of publications
  • Two letters of endorsement
    (at least one must not be from a former supervisor)
